How does it work?

The Stichting FSC Garantiefonds guarantees – without additional costs for the traveller – that part of the travel sum that has already been paid will be paid back if the shipowner becomes financially insolvent. This can be before your trip, but also during your stay on board.

The Stichting FSC Garantiefonds also guarantees that the traveller’s trip home will take place in case shipowner cannot ensure this anymore halfway through the trip because of financial insolvency.

The Stichting FSC Garantiefonds only guarantees travel agreements that can be regarded as a package trip because they must consist of minimally two elements of transportation, accommodation and other tourist services. Agreements only related to transportation or accommodation are excluded.

The Stichting FSC Garantiefonds does not deal with complaints such as a trip that has not been carried out correctly by the shipowner. You can try and solve this through your booking office/travel agent. Is your complaint not handled according to your satisfaction, then you can go to the Geschillencommissie Waterrecreatie (Arbitration Committee Water Recreation).
